As an IB Learner you are reflective. On your own page of your blog you will need to explain each of these important ideas in your own words:

  • Line (plotting points and slope-intercept)

  • Vertical and horizontal lines

  • Half-planes

  • Equations by plotting points

  • Parabolas

  • Exponential curves

  • Conic sections (general-form equation)

  • Graph standard-form conic sections

  • Functional notation

TYPE OF PROBLEMS YOU WILL NEED TO SOLVE:

  • Graph lines by plotting points and by using the slope-intercept.
  • Draw a line when given a point and the slope.
  • Match a line with an equation.
  • Solve applied problems involving lines, including future value, depreciation, profit, marginal profit, cost, and marginal cost.
  • Graph first-degree inequalities with two unknowns.
  • Graph parabolas and exponential curves by plotting points.
  • Solve applied problems involving exponential and parabolic models.
  • Identify a conic section by looking at its equation.
  • Sketch a conic section using its geometric definition.
  • Sketch a conic section using its standard-form equation
  • Solve applied problems involving the conic sections.
  • Decide whether a given set is a function.
  • Use the vertical line test to decide whether a given graph represents a functions.
  • Determine the output value for a function.
  • Evaluate functions.
  • Graph a function and then classify it as a linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, or probability function.
  • Find the difference quotient for a given function f.
